Gender equality in the art world has been a topic of discussion and advocacy for many years. While progress has been made, there is still work to be done to achieve true gender parity in the arts. This not-for-profit organization makes a difference through education, providing developmental grants to female artists to create and better monetize their work.

WHY EMPOWER EQUALITY IN ART?
The Case for Equal Pay
- Women artists, on average, earn less than their male counterparts. In a survey conducted by the Freelands Foundation in the UK in 2019, it was found that female artists earned 32% less than male artists.
The Case for Representation
Research has shown that women artists are often underrepresented in solo exhibitions in major galleries and museums. In 2019, the Baltimore Museum of Art announced that it would only acquire works by women artists for a year to address this imbalance. Female artists' works have historically sold for lower prices at auction compared to male artists. According to a 2019 report by Artnet, only 2% of art sold at auction for over $1 million was by female artists.
Art Leadership
- Women are underrepresented in leadership roles in the art world. A study by ArtReview in 2020 found that only 11% of major international art institutions were led by women.
